Rasmus and Elli (both from Sweden) have had four wonderful weeks at Sjölunden! It shows!

Båda systrar var på Sjölunden i sommar. Both systers came to Sjölunden during different sessions this summer.

Klockan är tio. Nu är det dags för föräldraprogrammet. It`s ten o`clock. Time for the parents program.

We met the counselors such as Slussens Erik from Sweden and Martin who has been on staff for 5 years.

We went to the dansbana to continue the program.

When we sang "Hemma" ("Home"), we had a skit to explain the words.

The Slussen boys came forward to sing their song. The actually got a chance to record it in a recording studio a few days ago! You can pull down the "ABOUT" menu and click on the word SONGS to hear the song (You can also view the new 2009 videos the villagers made when you click on VIDEOS under the ABOUT tab.)

Vi sjöng tre svenska folkvisor. Här är texten till den första. We sang three Swedish folk songs. Here is the text to the first one.

As we talked about our favorite intresse activities such as segling, Ultimate Frisbee, and Dalmålning (Dala-painting), some of the villagers showed what they had made.

Titta på Millas vävning! Hon även hann göra det här också. Look at Milla`s weaving! She even had time to do this, too.

Now it was time to talk about plans for next summer, new building projects at Sjölunden, things families can donate (a list of items will be coming on the website throughout the year), and special awards for 2009. Many villagers received awards for their participation in our awesome sailing program.

Our ten year villager this year is Gulli (Carina Bragg). Magda talked about watching her grow up here at Sjölunden.

Now for "Sång till Friheten," our closing song . . . "Du är det finaste" ("You are the finest") which we dedicated to . . .

Magda . . . who wears so many hats as she is the true weaver who brings us all together so we can really call Sjölunden "Hemma."

Här är refrängen. Here is the first verse and which we repeat as a chorus. The next two verses are below.

This song commemorated the awesome 1994 Swedish soccer team who went to try to "gräva guld i USA" (go for the GOLD medal in the USA).

At the end of the program, we got to meet more of our Sjölunden families. Helena´s family has three generations of CLV participation!

Both Jim Peterson (dad) and Bror have been villagers at Sjölunden under two different deans. Linda was Dean when Jim and Magda were villagers, and now Magda is dean, and Bror is a villager and Linda is on staff! Whoa!

Magda stands with Bosse and his mom, Andrea, who was also a villager and on staff at Sjölunden a few years back.

Does it seem strange to have your cell phones back? "Nej," säger Anders. "Vi kan hålla kontakt under året." "No," says Anders. "We can keep in touch during the year."
Vi ses 2010!
